Israeli Soldier Trapped in Bus Luggage Compartment as Driver Drives On

A 20-year-old Israeli soldier serving in the Golan Heights was trapped inside the luggage compartment of an Egged bus on route 541 from Kiryat Shmona to Afula after the driver accidentally closed the door while she was retrieving her bag. The incident occurred last Thursday when the bus reached Tiberias. The soldier bent down to get her belongings, and the driver, unaware of her presence, shut the compartment door and continued driving toward the central station in Tiberias. Trapped and anxious, the soldier pounded on the compartment's interior to attract attention. Realizing the bus was still moving, she immediately called the Israel Police emergency center to report her location and request assistance. Passersby noticed the situation and signaled the driver to stop. The driver then opened the compartment and rescued the soldier, who was visibly distressed. Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom treated her for a minor leg injury at Poriya Medical Center's emergency room.
