Israeli Soldier Trapped in Bus Luggage Compartment in Tiberias Injured and Hospitalized

An Israeli soldier was trapped in the luggage compartment of an Egged bus in central Tiberias last Friday after entering the compartment to retrieve her bag. The compartment door suddenly closed on her leg, and the bus continued driving without the driver noticing her presence. The soldier began shouting for help but was initially unheard. After dialing the police emergency number and banging on the compartment walls, passersby eventually noticed her leg protruding and alerted the driver, who stopped and opened the door.

The soldier suffered injuries to her leg and head and was taken by ambulance to Poriya Hospital for treatment. She described the experience as terrifying and expressed anxiety about what could have happened if the bus had continued driving. Egged issued an apology, explaining the driver was unaware she had entered the compartment and believed she had already exited the bus. The company emphasized the incident was unintentional and confirmed the driver stopped immediately upon realizing the situation and checked on her condition, later following up by phone to wish her a speedy recovery.
