Former Foreign Footballers Eye Return to Israeli Premier League Amid Transfer Challenges

Several foreign football players who previously played in the Israeli Premier League are currently in situations that could make them attractive signings for Israeli clubs this summer. With teams struggling to find suitable foreign reinforcements, these players might stage a comeback to Israel.

Frantzedi Piero, a former Maccabi Haifa striker, has underperformed at AEK Athens with just 10 goals in 55 appearances and is reportedly on his way out. Polish clubs Legia Warsaw and Pogon Szczecin are interested, but Israeli Premier League teams could also benefit from his proven contribution to Haifa.

Stipe Perica, once a prolific scorer for Maccabi Tel Aviv, is now playing in the Uzbek league for Neftchi Fergana, where he has scored nine goals in 17 matches. His contract runs until December, making him a potential mid-season acquisition.

Chalapilo Pleiter, a forward with experience at Ironi Kiryat Shmona, Beitar Jerusalem, and Hapoel Ramat Gan, has struggled in Hungary’s Ujpest after a good season at OFK Belgrade. Last season, he scored once and assisted three times in 22 appearances, mostly as a substitute, but could still be considered by Israeli teams.
