Israeli Minister Vows Military Action Against Iran Despite US Deal

Eli Cohen, a senior member of Israel's Security Cabinet, declared on Sunday that Israel will take military action against Iran if Tehran resumes its nuclear program or rebuilds its ballistic missile capabilities, even if an agreement is reached between Iran and the United States. Speaking on the "Eight Zero Zero" radio program on Kol Barama, Cohen emphasized that Israel prioritizes its own security and cannot rely solely on any US-Iran agreements. He noted the economic pressures and internal challenges facing the Iranian regime but stressed that Israel is preparing for all possible scenarios.

Regarding Gaza, Cohen stated that any progress in reconstruction efforts hinges on the complete disarmament of Hamas. He warned that Hamas is attempting to buy time by falsely presenting a partial surrender of weapons, which Israel fears could allow the group to rearm. Cohen affirmed Israel's firm stance on demanding full disarmament.

On northern border tensions and Hezbollah-related security incidents, Cohen said the political leadership has instructed not to tolerate attacks against Israel. He explained that Israel's policy aims to establish a security buffer zone inside enemy territories in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza to protect its border communities.

Politically, Cohen addressed preparations for upcoming elections and dismissed attempts to present new political parties as viable alternatives.
