Yoni Rezel's Daughter Gets Engaged Beside His ICU Bed After Severe Stroke
Singer and musician Yoni Rezel, 53, who is hospitalized in serious condition at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center after a severe stroke about two weeks ago, marked a family milestone this week. His daughter, Rivki Rezel, became engaged to Aharon Yeshayahu Ben David, and the engagement celebration was held in an unusual setting, next to her father’s bed in the intensive care unit.
According to Yoni’s brother, musician Aharon Rezel, Yoni was admitted after a brain hemorrhage. Aharon said the diagnosis was made very quickly and that Yoni is now in intensive care for observation and monitoring, is fully conscious, communicating with family, and has not suffered damage. Despite his condition, the family chose to hold the vaart, the engagement gathering, with only close relatives present, and Yoni took part in the occasion with his family.
Rivki Rezel also has a difficult personal history. On Israel’s Independence Day in 2010, when she was a child, she fell from the roof of the family home in Jerusalem’s Nahlaot neighborhood while watching fireworks and was badly injured. After a long rehabilitation, she recovered and returned to normal life.
In recent days, many people have been praying for Yoni Rezel’s recovery. Singer Shuli Rand and his wife Tzofit Grant visited the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s holy site in New York during their U.S. trip, and Rand left a note asking for urgent healing for “Yoni Adi ben Chaya Rachel.” The family thanked the public for its support and asked people to continue praying for his full and speedy recovery.
