Singer and musician Yonatan Razel has not suffered any loss of function after the stroke he recently experienced, his brother, musician Aharon Razel, said in an interview with Iris Kol on 103FM. Aharon said, “He talks and even makes jokes,” adding that he played guitar for him in the hospital and that Yonatan, while half asleep, noticed that one string was out of tune. “I told him we can leave that for now,” he said.
Aharon said he was not giving medical details, but stressed that “his functioning has not been impaired.” He said Yonatan still needs to recover and return to full strength, “with God’s help,” and added that his recovery depends on continuing to pray.
He also thanked the public for the support his family has received since Yonatan’s hospitalization became known. “We felt it very much,” he said. “A prayer of many creates a strong energy of support, cry and unity. I am sure it opens and knocks on the gates of heaven.”
The two brothers are among the most prominent figures in contemporary Jewish music. Yonatan Razel became widely known through his 2012 album “Between the Sounds,” which featured the song “Ketonti.” He was hospitalized about three weeks ago at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in serious condition after the stroke, and the hospital said he had suffered a brain hemorrhage.
