Two Snakebite Cases in Minutes in Northern Israel, One Man in Serious Condition

On the evening of August 7, 2026, two separate snakebite incidents were reported within minutes in northern Israel. A man in his 60s was bitten by a snake in the village of Kafr Qara. Paramedics and medics from Magen David Adom (MDA) provided emergency treatment at a local clinic before transporting him to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in serious condition.

Shortly after, an 18-year-old man was bitten near his home in a kibbutz in the Mateh Asher Regional Council. He received medical care on-site and was taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya in moderate condition. These incidents follow a series of snakebites across Israel last week, including three cases within one day: a 14-year-old girl in Bnei Darom, a 48-year-old woman in Rishon Lezion, and a 26-year-old woman in the Galilee.

The 14-year-old girl, Hushen Brown, recounted her experience of being bitten while walking on a road in her community. She described feeling a sharp sting on her leg and seeing a snake before running to a friend's house nearby. After medical evaluation, she was administered a viper antivenom. She noted that she was advised to remain calm and avoid running, which she found challenging.

MDA's emergency hotline 101 received the reports, and the swift response highlights ongoing concerns about snakebite risks in Israel during this season. Medical professionals continue to urge caution and awareness in affected areas.
