Two Separate Snakebite Cases in Northern Israel Leave One Man in Serious Condition

On the evening of August 7, 2026, two distinct snakebite incidents were reported within minutes in northern Israel. A man in his 60s was bitten by a snake in the village of Kafr Qara. Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom (MDA) provided on-site treatment before transporting him to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in a serious condition. Shortly afterward, an 18-year-old man was bitten near his home in a kibbutz within the Mateh Asher Regional Council. He was treated by MDA teams and taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya in moderate condition.

These recent cases follow a series of snakebite incidents across Israel last week, including three bites within a single day: a 14-year-old girl in Bnei Darom, a 48-year-old woman in Rishon Lezion, and a 26-year-old woman in the Galilee. The 14-year-old girl, Hushen Brown, recounted her experience of being bitten while walking in her moshav, describing the shock and the subsequent administration of a viper antivenom. She noted that medical staff advised her to remain calm and avoid running after a snakebite, advice she found challenging to follow.

The increasing number of snakebite cases has raised awareness about the importance of prompt medical treatment and caution in affected areas. Emergency services continue to monitor and respond to such incidents to mitigate risks to public health.
