Security Officials Confirm Iranian Missile Fragment Hit Ramat David Air Base
A fragment of an Iranian missile struck the Ramat David Air Force base on Sunday evening. The assessment is that it was an interception fragment.
Security officials have now allowed the publication of the fact that a fragment of an Iranian missile hit the Ramat David Air Force base on Sunday evening. The Air Force is still investigating the circumstances of the incident and believes it was an interception fragment.
On Monday, a satellite image of the base was taken that raised questions about the possibility of a strike on the site during the missile barrage that Iran launched the day before against Israel. Compared with earlier satellite images from the same area of the base, it is possible to see that where an hangar once stood, there is now a dark stain. According to assessments, this is a finding that may indicate a possible hit at the site.
The discussion around the new image comes against the backdrop of earlier reports pointing to strikes on IDF bases during the previous confrontation with Iran. An analysis of satellite images published by the company Soar then indicated damage to several military facilities across the country. It was also reported that satellite images showed a change in the ground near a structure at the Mishar base of Unit 8200 in the Safed area. According to Soar's analysis, the finding may indicate a strike that took place in March. Those reports also mentioned damage observed at a defense position at the Nevatim Air Force base, as well as a large fire at Camp Shimson, which, according to the image analysis, spread across an area of about 200 meters inside the base after a drone attack attributed to Hezbollah.
