IDF confirms debris from Iranian missile hit Air Force base
The military censor has allowed publication that debris from an Iranian missile was identified as hitting the Ramat David Air Force Base. The IDF said damage was caused to a hangar at the base, but no operational capability was affected, and the incident is under review.
Yesterday, satellite images from the company Soar were published, showing the strike on the base. Images released by Soar and presented alongside a photo from June 5 show a mark at the point where missile fragments apparently hit.
Four days after the Iranian attack on Israel, the IDF confirmed today (Wednesday) that part of a ballistic missile struck a hangar at the Ramat David Air Force Base. The IDF also said publication was permitted of damage to buildings at the base and that the incident is being investigated. However, the military clarified that the strike did not interfere with operational activity and that no capability was damaged.
As noted earlier this week, Iran launched about 30 missiles toward Israel in response to an IDF attack in Beirut’s Dahieh district. The Air Force responded with strikes against targets in several cities in Iran. The IDF spokesperson announced a strike on the petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, and according to foreign reports, air defense systems, radar and surface-to-surface missiles were also hit. Strikes were also reported at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran and at a drone warehouse in the Iranian capital.
The fighting round ended after only 17 hours. Iran announced a halt to launches toward Israel and said: "A painful response was given to the regime and the operation was stopped. Following the crimes and disruptions of the brutal Zionist regime in southern Lebanon and the Dahieh area, supported by criminal America, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in support of the oppressed people of Lebanon, gave a painful response to this regime, a response from which the fake Zionist regime and its supporters should learn a lesson."
On the other hand, a senior Israeli official said, "At Trump’s request, Israel is stopping the strikes in Iran. The strikes in southern Lebanon will continue in the coming days with full force. We will also bomb Dahieh if the attacks on our communities and citizens continue."
