Minister May Golan Condemns Mansour Abbas Following Investigative Report on Ra'am Leader

Minister for Social Equality and Advancement of Women May Golan of the Likud party responded sharply to a recent investigative documentary aired on Channel 14 about Mansour Abbas, chairman of the Ra'am party. The film, titled "Mansour Abbas, The Polite Jihad," explored Abbas's ties to the Islamic Movement and his political stance. Golan accused Abbas of obsessively attacking her during the previous coalition government, claiming he and then-Prime Minister Naftali Bennett funneled billions without oversight.

Golan highlighted the documentary's revelations that Abbas views Israel as a "Zionist enemy" and refers to Jews as "invaders," contradicting his public image as a caring figure. She accused Abbas and Ra'am of enabling crime within the Arab community, noting his refusal to condemn Hamas and his opposition to a historic security initiative she led with Prime Minister Netanyahu and Minister Ben-Gvir to combat organized crime through joint Shin Bet and police efforts.

The minister also criticized Abbas for sending Ra'am member Mazen Ganaim to petition the Supreme Court against this security plan and warned that Abbas would dismantle it if he returned to power. The documentary has sparked widespread reactions from Israeli public figures, including other politicians who have voiced their opinions on the matter. The film's broadcast comes ahead of the 2026 elections, intensifying scrutiny of Abbas and his party's role in Israeli politics.
