Right-Wing Journalist Sparks Outrage With Anti-Haredi Remark
Hagai Huberman, editor of the popular religious newsletter "Matzav HaRuach," triggered anger after he posted a shocking phrase in a journalists’ group chat amid ongoing protests and road blockages by the Jerusalem Faction and other extreme Haredi groups. According to Channel 14, he wrote, "Run over every religious Jew, destroy every Haredi," and at least one participant immediately challenged him, asking, "What did you write here??"
The report said the exchange caused sharp reactions among some members of the group. Huberman is identified with Naftali Bennett, and this is not the first time his comments have stirred controversy.
In June 2022, during the Bennett-Lapid government, Huberman sent then-minister Idit Silman a message saying that if she voted against the legal regulations bill in Judea and Samaria, he would have a good headline: "Idit Silman and Ayman Odeh against the settlers. Nice, not to be misunderstood." Silman replied at the time that she would not make any decision based on threats or intimidation and would continue acting according to her values and her senders.
The article also notes another harsh anti-Haredi statement Huberman made in 2013, when he said he would not shed a tear if the yeshivas of Ponvezh, Mir, Slabodka and Hebron ended up in the same state as the Chachmei Lublin yeshiva in Poland, which was destroyed in the Holocaust.
