Rogel Nahum to Step Down as Head of Israeli Athletics Association

Rogel Nahum, the performance director and former athlete of the Israeli Athletics Association, is set to conclude his role following mutual discussions. The 59-year-old Nahum, a prominent figure in Israeli athletics, has been involved in negotiations with the association over recent months regarding his departure, which is now expected to materialize.

Nahum has been a key professional influence within the association for several years, overseeing all athletic disciplines. He initially left the position nine years ago to work in the private sector but later returned. Among his notable contributions, he coached Olympic athlete Hanna Minenko.

As an athlete, Nahum had a distinguished career spanning 18 years from 1984 to 2002, competing in high jump, long jump, and triple jump. He represented Israel in three Olympic Games (Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000) and four World Championships. Nahum had the honor of carrying the Israeli flag at the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony and earned two gold medals at the Maccabiah Games.
