Environment Minister Silman Proud of Toppling Change Government Ahead of Likud Primaries

Environment Minister Idith Silman spoke on 103FM radio on June 18, 2026, ahead of the upcoming Likud primaries, expressing confidence in her political future and readiness to continue serving in the next Knesset. She emphasized that she does not fear the primaries and believes Likud voters appreciate her role in toppling the previous "change government," which she described as the "dream government of the media." Silman also responded sharply to former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, criticizing his policies and decisions during his tenure, including his stance on Iran's nuclear capabilities and his departure from the security cabinet before the 2006 Lebanon conflict. However, she left the door open for Eisenkot to join the next government if he accepts its core principles under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership.

Regarding recent controversy over Likud Minister Dudi Amsalem's comments about Eisenkot, Silman expressed respect and support for Amsalem, calling him a valued colleague and wishing him success in the primaries. She reiterated her belief that the right-wing camp will maintain power, stating, "The people are on the right."

Finally, Silman addressed the "Crocodile Prison" initiative for terrorists, confirming it is being advanced in coordination with the Shin Bet and the National Security Ministry. She assured that the project will be implemented responsibly, respecting animal welfare and legal standards, aiming to deter future attacks.
