Tucker Carlson Plans Far-Right Political Movement and Possible U.S. Presidential Run
Tucker Carlson, former leading Fox News host and influential figure in American conservative circles, is expected to announce within hours the formation of a new far-right political movement, alongside a potential bid for the U.S. presidency. Carlson, once a mainstream conservative voice for over two decades, was dismissed from Fox News in 2022 amid allegations of deep ties to the Russian government and other accusations. Since then, he has launched an internet broadcast on Elon Musk's X platform, where he has adopted an extremist, conspiratorial persona, regularly spreading antisemitic rhetoric and hosting Holocaust deniers and known antisemites.
Carlson frequently accuses Israel of orchestrating major events such as the 9/11 attacks and the assassination of President Kennedy, promoting numerous antisemitic conspiracy theories. Despite his current stance, Carlson comes from a prominent conservative family; his father was a senior CIA official and a declared supporter of Israel. Tucker himself attempted to join the CIA after graduating in 1992 but was rejected due to personality traits described as talkative, arrogant, and unable to follow authority. His father later helped him enter the media industry.
Over the past two years, Carlson has gathered a group of selected far-right figures, government officials, and influencers hostile to Israel, forming a sort of underground faction within the Republican establishment. This includes Joe Kent, a former White House intelligence officer who resigned protesting the Iran war and blamed Israel for his wife’s death in Syria; Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former Congresswoman known for antisemitic remarks including accusing Israel of starting wildfires with "Jewish lasers"; and Thomas Massie, a current Congressman who has repeatedly criticized Israel and will soon leave office after losing the Republican primary.
Carlson’s imminent announcement of this new political movement, composed of these far-right, antisemitic figures, signals a serious warning for Israel and the Jewish people. While the movement is unlikely to win the presidency, its creation may pressure Republican leaders to adopt more critical stances toward Israel. This development represents a significant threat as the political landscape shifts away from figures like Joe Biden and Donald Trump toward more openly hostile actors toward Israel.
