Innovation Minister Gila Gamliel Proposes Reserving Knesset Slot for Reservist Fighter from Unit 100 on Likud List

Israel's Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Gila Gamliel, suggested incorporating a representative from the reservist combat Unit 100 into the Likud party's Knesset list. Speaking on the 'Open Studio' program with Boaz Golan on Wednesday, Gamliel proposed using the party's reserved slots to strengthen Likud by including figures representing various public groups, specifically highlighting reservist soldiers.

Gamliel emphasized that placing a Unit 100 fighter on the list would provide proper representation for reservists and bring their personal experiences and grievances regarding the military judicial system to the forefront. She described the military legal system as "corrupted," noting that even within the army, reservists suffer from its flaws.

The minister argued that this move would not only give reservists a voice but also add value to the Likud movement by addressing a constituency that feels underrepresented. Her proposal comes amid pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reduce the number of reserved slots on the party list to allow more Knesset members to secure realistic positions.

Gamliel's remarks highlight ongoing internal discussions within Likud about balancing representation and electoral strategy ahead of upcoming elections.
