Haredi Billionaire Yoel Landa Pledges $1 Million Fund to Support Yeshiva Students' Legal Battle Against Draft
Haredi businessman Yoel Landa met with the Gur Rebbe yesterday to discuss the critical issue of the loss of status for Haredi yeshiva students amid ongoing draft controversies. During the meeting held in the Rebbe's office, Landa presented a plan to establish a dedicated fund to finance the legal fight against sanctions and arrests of yeshiva students. This fund aims to provide comprehensive legal support to any student in need, with Landa and his partners committing an initial $1 million to the cause.
The initiative also includes managing the campaign through international legal channels. Additionally, prompted by the Rebbe's son, Rabbi Nechemia Alter, who participated in the discussion, Landa pledged to finance the construction of two celebration halls for the Hasidic community members who adhere to the community's strict regulations on festivities. One hall will be built in Jerusalem and the other in Arad.
