Lee Pony, one of the couriers convicted in the high-profile "pink suitcases" drug smuggling case, has publicly explained her decision not to participate in the new Yes docuseries about the scandal. In an Instagram post on August 5, 2026, Pony said she chose to maintain her privacy and focus on the life she has built since the incident. She expressed regret for her past actions but emphasized she is not ashamed of who she has become. "I am not proud of my past, but I am not ashamed of who I am today," she wrote, acknowledging the personal struggles and confusion that led to her involvement in the crime.

Pony described the emotional turmoil she experienced at the time, stating that her actions stemmed from a desire to belong and be seen rather than malice. However, she took full responsibility for her choices and apologized sincerely. She hopes people can look beyond her past mistakes and see her growth. The "pink suitcases" case emerged in January 2023 when four young Israeli women were arrested at Ben Gurion Airport carrying about 15 kilograms of cocaine and ketamine. The case drew widespread attention due to the involvement of young couriers recruited by criminal organizations.

The Yes docuseries revisits this notorious drug case, telling the story of the four couriers. Only two of the women agreed to be interviewed, while Pony and another chose not to participate. Meanwhile, a dramatic series inspired by the events is currently in development, aiming to provide a fictionalized retelling of the scandal that shook Israel.
