Flyers in Amsterdam Urge Reporting and Boycotting Israelis Ahead of Pride Parade

Ahead of Amsterdam's Pride Parade last week, flyers circulated calling on residents to boycott Israeli artists and report any Israelis they encountered. The flyers, shared mainly on social media, featured personal details and photos of three Israelis labeled as "war criminals," along with locations and dates where they were allegedly expected to appear in the city. The flyer urged, "Beware of war criminals - protect your community," and instructed recipients to report sightings within five minutes via a link to a reporting platform named RITA. It also referenced the extremist Hind Rajab Foundation, known for its anti-IDF activities.

During the Pride Parade on Saturday, an incident was recorded where a participant grabbed an Israeli flag from another celebrant and fled. Following the flyer distribution, the RITA organization issued a statement denying any involvement, clarifying that the flyer used their name, logo, and reporting form without authorization. RITA emphasized that their mission is to serve as an independent reporting platform for discrimination and harassment, and that the unauthorized use of their identity caused public confusion.

Since October 7, the Netherlands has seen a rise in anti-Semitic and anti-Israel incidents, including a violent attack in November 2024 on fans of the Israeli basketball team Maccabi Tel Aviv, along with heated protests and attacks on community institutions. The flyer campaign and related tensions highlight ongoing challenges faced by Israelis and Jewish communities in Amsterdam amid heightened political and social conflicts.
