Grandsons of Rabbi Yaakov Israel Kanievsky Gather for Special Prayer on His Yahrzeit in Bnei Brak

A rare and moving event will take place on the yahrzeit (anniversary of passing) of Rabbi Yaakov Israel Kanievsky, known as the Steipler, in Bnei Brak. The occasion is organized as a special service for donors to the 'Kupat Ha'Ir' charity fund. A minyan composed entirely of the Steipler's grandsons, all prominent Torah scholars and teachers, will gather at his gravesite for a unique prayer session.

Among the distinguished participants are leading rabbis such as Rabbi Shmuel Shteinman, Rabbi Chaim Peretz Berman, Rabbi Chizkiyah Yehuda Edelstein, Rabbi Yitzchak Koldetsky, Rabbi Moshe Barzam, Rabbi Avraham David Epstein, Rabbi Tzvi Yaakovzon, Rabbi Shmuel Kanievsky, Rabbi Yaakov Shaul Kanievsky, Rabbi Moshe Berman, Rabbi Yitzchak Berman, and Rabbi Gershon Honigsberg. They will recite heartfelt prayers including "Hoshea Na Kehilot Yaakov" and will mention by name the donors who contributed to the fund, asking for salvation, blessing, and protection.

The Steipler was renowned for his blessings and miraculous interventions for thousands who sought his help during times of joy and distress. Even after his passing, his family and students continue to visit his gravesite, following the example of his son, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, who prayed there in times of trouble, saying, "Great righteous ones in their death are greater than in their life."

At the conclusion of the prayer, all ten grandsons will sign a "Hoshea Na Kehilot Yaakov" certificate, officially affirming that the prayers offered on the yahrzeit will be dedicated to the names submitted by donors, beseeching great salvation on their behalf. This event offers a special opportunity for donors to merit blessings through the merit of the righteous Steipler, whose spiritual influence continues decades after his passing.
