Former MK and Business Figures Investigated for Tax Evasion of Tens of Millions in Israel
Former Knesset member and Likud judicial president Klein, brothers Yaffe and Yitzhak Dayan, and contractor Dudi Apple are under investigation by Israel's Lahav 433 unit for suspected tax evasion amounting to tens of millions of shekels. Klein, a senior Likud figure currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings since 2012, is accused of concealing ownership of various real estate assets worth tens of millions and transferring assets while under bankruptcy protection, violating disclosure obligations.
The investigation is conducted by the National Economic Crime Unit (YALAK) within Lahav 433, alongside the National Unit for Investigations under the Insolvency and Economic Rehabilitation Authority of the Ministry of Justice. The suspects were detained for questioning on Monday, including Klein, the contractor, and several businessmen. Police stated the suspects used sophisticated and systematic methods to hide their assets from authorities and illicitly profit.
Following the transition to an open investigation and the suspects' detention, authorities seized substantial property to be confiscated during the legal proceedings. The case highlights ongoing efforts to combat high-level economic crimes involving prominent political and business figures in Israel.
