Two Shfaram Residents Indicted for Shooting Inside Mosque and Weapon Smuggling

Following a shooting incident inside a mosque in Shfaram earlier this month, Israeli police have filed indictments against two local residents for weapons offenses. The incident involved a suspect who entered the mosque armed with a sword and handgun, fired shots, and then fled the scene. Upon receiving the report, large forces from the Northern District police and Border Police launched extensive searches and investigations.

After hours of pursuit aided by intelligence and technological tools, the Yamam counterterrorism unit arrested the primary suspect near the village of Ibtin. Further investigation by the Galilee District Investigations Unit (YAMAR Galil) identified a second suspect who had smuggled the handgun used in the shooting. Both suspects, aged 32 and 47, were detained and their arrests extended during the investigation.

The police recovered the handgun and linked the weapon’s path to the suspects’ actions. The Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office, represented by attorney Daniel Koplev, has submitted a prosecutorial statement ahead of formally charging the two men. The indictments are expected to be filed imminently, holding the suspects accountable for the shooting and illegal weapon possession.
