Israeli Counterterror Unit Arrests Suspect in Shfaram Mosque Shooting After Manhunt

Israeli counterterrorism unit YAMAM arrested a suspect involved in a shooting incident at a mosque in Shfaram on Thursday evening. The arrest followed extensive searches guided by intelligence from the Shin Bet security service. Alongside the main suspect, two additional individuals were also detained during the operation. All suspects were transferred for joint interrogation by Shin Bet and the Northern District of the Israel Police. A gag order was imposed by the Acre Magistrate's Court at the police's request, restricting publication of investigation details.

Earlier on Thursday, the police and Shin Bet unusually released the suspect's photo to the public, seeking assistance in locating him. The suspect is accused of opening fire inside the Shfaram mosque overnight, apparently to intimidate one of the worshippers. No injuries were reported in the incident. During the manhunt, security forces called on the suspect to surrender with his hands raised, but he initially escaped before being apprehended later that evening.
