Hapoel Be'er Sheva Replaces Kings Kangwa with Aliel Peretz Against Red Star Belgrade
Hapoel Be'er Sheva faces Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday in the first leg of the third qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League, marking their first match since the departure of midfielder Kings Kangwa. Coach Ran Kuzuh announced the starting lineup, with Aliel Peretz starting in place of the Zambian midfielder. Peretz, who was among the league's top performers last season with six goals and five assists, had previously come off the bench in both second-round matches against Icelandic champions Vikingur, where he impressed after entering in the 57th minute.
In this match, Peretz and defensive midfielder Niv Yehoshua will start together, with Yehoshua expected to focus on ball distribution while Peretz takes a more attacking role seeking open spaces. Red Star Belgrade enters the game as a clear favorite, aiming to control possession, which could open opportunities for Be'er Sheva to counterattack.
Following Kangwa's high-value transfer to Panathinaikos, Be'er Sheva is actively searching for his replacement and plans to invest significant resources in acquiring a new midfielder. The club has guaranteed a European competition season and a minimum bonus of 3.17 million euros, in addition to approximately 3.8 million euros from Kangwa's sale.
