Croatian Valencia player sparks backlash after posting Hitler book image
Croatian forward Luka Bozic, who plays for EuroLeague club Valencia, triggered controversy after posting an Instagram story showing a book with Adolf Hitler on the cover and a smiling emoji. The incident came shortly after Israel faced Croatia in World Cup qualifying for the Basketball World Cup, a game Israel lost.
According to the report, the post drew many responses online, prompting Bozic to publish a follow-up story explaining himself. He said he had been asked to remove the earlier post about the book he was reading.
Bozic said he did not intend to express any particular opinion and had only shared a picture of the book. “If I offended anyone, I apologize,” he wrote. “I just like reading somewhat different literature.” The original report did not say what the book was beyond its Hitler image or whether any further action would follow.
