Croatian Star Luka Bozic Apologizes After Posting Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' on Instagram
A controversy erupted in Croatia and Spain after Luka Bozic, a Croatia national team basketball player and former Granada forward, posted a photo of Adolf Hitler’s "Mein Kampf" on his Instagram story, then deleted it and apologized. The book is one of the central texts of Nazi propaganda, and Bozic’s post also included a thumbs-up style emoji, triggering sharp criticism online.
Bozic later said in his apology, "I was asked to delete my story, the book I am reading. I did not express my opinions, I only posted a picture of the book I am reading. If I offended anyone, I apologize. I simply like to read different literature."
The timing was particularly sensitive for the 30-year-old forward. He is currently without a club after Granada were relegated to Spain’s second division, and his contract expires on June 30. At the same time, he has been called up to Croatia’s squad for the 2027 World Cup qualifying window, with the team set to gather on June 15 in Opatija.
Bozic had an excellent individual season, making the Spanish league’s Team of the Season and narrowly missing the MVP award, which went to his national teammate Mario Hezonja of Real Madrid. He finished with a 24.3 average performance index rating, the highest in the Spanish league in 18 years, but could not prevent Granada from finishing last and going down.
