Environment Minister Silman Orders Prison Service to Prepare for Crocodile Detention Pilot

Environment Minister Ayelet Shaked Silman instructed the Israel Nature and Parks Authority to establish conditions for holding crocodiles under the Israel Prison Service (IPS). This directive comes amid a temporary court injunction halting the transfer of crocodiles to Ketziot Prison following a petition by the animal rights group Let the Animals Live. Silman announced that the IPS plans to begin a pilot program involving the crocodile detention at Ketziot Prison within the coming days. The Jerusalem District Court issued the interim order in response to the petition, temporarily preventing the transfer until a final ruling is made. The state has been required to submit its response to the petition, but no final decision has yet been reached.
