Ajax Signing Julian Brandt Could Sideline Israeli Star Oscar Gloukh

Oscar Gloukh has started the 2026/2027 season impressively with Ajax, including scoring a hat-trick against Vojvodina in the Conference League qualifiers. However, the recent acquisition of Julian Brandt, a world-class attacking midfielder, poses a challenge for Gloukh's playing time. Dutch analysts and commentators have expressed concerns that Brandt's arrival may push Gloukh to the bench despite his strong early-season form.

Dan Sotiriou of FC AFKICKEN highlighted the positional conflict, noting both Brandt and Gloukh play as attacking midfielders. Sotiriou questioned who would be benched or if one might be shifted to the left wing, especially if Mika Hudets leaves the club. He suggested that if Hudets departs, Ajax might recruit a replacement for that position, potentially relegating Gloukh to a substitute role.

Ajax insiders Ars Jessa and Van Aiden added that while players like Gloukh and Kasper Dolberg still hold value, their status is diminishing due to the club's expensive new signings. Stan Vogt concluded that despite these concerns, Ajax must seize opportunities to sign top talent like Brandt, comparing it to PSV's past acquisition of Mario Gotze, emphasizing that such chances cannot be declined.
