New Israeli Armor Recruits Express Pride and Commitment Amid Rising Demand

Liran, one of the new recruits, shared his feelings of pressure and excitement before donning the uniform, stating, "Ultimately, we want to exist here, to live here - this is our country." Another recruit, Dor, highlighted the urgent need for soldiers in the armored corps, noting the current shortage. Among the recruits is Shaked Dahan, whose brother served in the elite "Zikim" unit on October 7; their father, Ezra, expressed pride in his son's decision, acknowledging the corps' significant role in recent conflicts.

Notably, a young Haredi recruit named Natan stood out for his unequivocal commitment to enlist in the armored corps. His father, Oren, accompanied him on this emotional day, expressing full support despite natural concerns about his son's wellbeing and religious needs during service. Oren emphasized the importance of providing conditions that allow Natan to maintain his Jewish identity while serving.

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Ela, commander of the Armor School, summarized the recruits' spirit and the corps' strengthened status following recent warfare. He described the armored corps as "the most decisive and powerful ground force," praising the recruits as outstanding youth eager to contribute at the front lines. Ela noted that combat experience enhances the corps' morale and deepens the new soldiers' sense of mission.
