The story · English

A fire broke out in a first-floor apartment in a residential building on Lachish Street in Ashdod during the early hours between Monday and Tuesday. A man in his 70s was rescued unconscious after inhaling heavy smoke and is currently in critical condition. Emergency services received the fire report at 03:53 AM and quickly dispatched teams to the scene.

Upon arrival, paramedics from Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah encountered thick black smoke rising from the apartment. Firefighters entered the burning unit and located the trapped man, who was found without pulse or breathing. Paramedics Abraham Fromer and Chaim Gitler administered advanced medical treatment including prolonged resuscitation efforts before transporting him to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod.

United Hatzalah medics Shlomi Mushkovitz, Dov Wider, and Eliezer Ben David confirmed the severity of the situation, noting the man was evacuated while still undergoing CPR. Fire and Rescue Services reported that firefighters conducted thorough searches and swiftly extracted the victim to awaiting medical teams. The man’s condition remains critical as emergency personnel continue to provide care.
