Activist Shafi Paz Criticizes Europe's Immigration Policy Amid Rising Muslim Migration

Social activist Shafi Paz sharply criticized European immigration policies, particularly Spain's decision to grant citizenship to 500,000 migrants, mostly Muslims, which she claims encourages further migration waves. Speaking in an interview with Ido Tauber, Paz described the situation in Europe as a growing crisis of Muslim migration, comparing it to the challenges faced in southern Tel Aviv, where she has campaigned against migrant influxes. She highlighted issues such as violence, crime, and displacement of longtime residents as consequences of unchecked migration.

Paz accused European leaders of inviting migrants, citing a Spanish leader's statement praising the influx as beneficial for Spain, to which she responded with strong condemnation. She argued that the real issue is not physical barriers like fences but the migrants' prospects for a future, noting that Spain's citizenship offer signals a future that attracts more migrants.

Drawing from her experience in Israel, Paz explained that Israel has successfully halted migrant influx through a combination of border fences and denying migrants a future by restricting their ability to integrate, work, or build lives in the country. She claimed credit for efforts to prevent migrants from establishing roots, emphasizing that the lack of opportunities, rather than physical barriers alone, deters migrants from staying. Paz vowed to continue opposing policies that would integrate or provide new pathways for migrants in Israel.
