Senior Fatah Official Jibril Zubaidi Released from Administrative Detention in Jenin
The Israeli Shin Bet security service released Jibril Zubaidi, a senior Fatah official from Jenin and brother of Zakaria Zubaidi, after his administrative detention order expired. Jibril had been held since 2023, with his detention extended multiple times by court rulings before the order finally ended. Zakaria Zubaidi, Jibril's brother, is currently head of the Palestinian Prisoners Authority and was formerly a leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades. Zakaria was previously pardoned under a wanted persons agreement but later resumed terrorist activities, was re-arrested, escaped from Gilboa prison with five others, and was recaptured days later. He was released in a January 2023 prisoner exchange and was responsible for numerous attacks against Israelis, including the 2002 Likud branch bombing in Beit Shean that killed six people.
