Israeli Economy Ministry Urges Immediate Return of Benaton BT-55900 Heater Over Safety Risks
The Israeli Ministry of Economy has issued an urgent call for consumers to stop using the Benaton spiral heater, model BT-55900, due to risks of electric shock and burns. The 2,100-watt heater, manufactured in China and imported by D.S.S. Electronics Ltd., was sold in Israel between November 2023 and November 2025. Following safety tests conducted by the Standards Authority through the Hermon laboratory, some units were found potentially non-compliant with Israeli electrical safety standards, particularly regarding protection from live parts and electric shock hazards.
A key defect identified was the possibility of users accessing internal components during normal use or malfunction, which could lead to electric shocks or burns. As a result, the ministry strongly recommends returning the heaters to the importer for inspection, structural repair, or replacement. Consumers are advised to cease using the heater immediately until it has been checked.
Owners can bring their units to D.S.S. Electronics’ warehouse at 84 Ben Tzvi Street, Tel Aviv, for service. For further information, the importer can be contacted by phone at 03-5188990 or via email at [email protected]. This recall aims to prevent accidents ahead of the upcoming winter season.
