Man Falsely Claims Holocaust Survivor Status to Enter Woman’s Apartment and Rape Her in Central Israel

The Central District Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against Adiel Eliyahu Michael Cohen for forcibly entering the apartment of a young woman he had recently met, sexually assaulting and raping her. The incident occurred in Petah Tikva, where Cohen initially asked the woman to sit with him on the grass, then grabbed her, touched her inappropriately, and attempted to kiss her despite her clear refusals.

After she declined his invitation to visit her apartment, Cohen requested her address and later called her. He falsely claimed to be a Holocaust survivor, which led the woman to agree to meet him only outside her building. Cohen arrived at her floor before she left her apartment and forced his way inside by blocking the door with his foot. Inside, he moved a sofa to the balcony and placed an inflatable pool to shield their actions from view.

Despite the woman’s resistance, Cohen grabbed her waist, forced her to sit on him, compelled her to perform oral sex, and ultimately raped her. Following the assault, he apologized and asked if she had enjoyed it. In the detention request, attorney Karat emphasized Cohen’s dangerousness, noting his disregard for the victim’s repeated refusals and the threat he poses to public safety, especially to women. Cohen faces charges of rape and indecent assault.
