Iran Executes Two Men Convicted of Spying for Israel's Mossad

Iranian authorities have executed two men, Omid Behzad and Pouria Sepavat, convicted of espionage for Israel. According to the Iranian judiciary-affiliated Mizan news agency, the men were found guilty of passing images and intelligence on military, police, and security facilities to Mossad. Their death sentences were confirmed by Iran's Supreme Court before being carried out.

Reports from Fars News Agency revealed that Behzad's mobile phone contained evidence of repeatedly sending precise locations of sensitive sites via map applications. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to identifying these locations and transmitting coordinates to Mossad-linked operatives. Sepavat was accused of providing security site locations to an external satellite channel allegedly used for intelligence gathering, and was placed under surveillance after his materials were used for intelligence and media purposes.

The executions come amid heightened tensions following the outbreak of conflict on February 28, when the US and Israel launched extensive attacks against Iran, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, rank Iran second globally in the number of executions carried out. This increase in executions reflects the Iranian regime's intensified crackdown amid ongoing hostilities.
