American Airlines Delays Resumption of Tel Aviv Flights Until March 2027 Amid Regional Tensions

American Airlines has announced a further postponement in resuming its direct flights between New York's JFK airport and Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, now scheduled no earlier than March 27, 2027. This delay follows the suspension of flights in October 2023 due to the outbreak of the Iron Swords conflict and heightened tensions with Iran. Currently, no American airline operates direct flights to Israel, reducing the options for travelers between the two countries.

At present, only Israeli carriers El Al and Arkia offer direct flights to the United States, with Israir expected to join soon after receiving approval to operate its newly acquired Airbus A330 aircraft on a new New York route. United Airlines has not set a firm date to resume flights, with the earliest possible return on September 7, 2026, though further delays are possible. Delta Air Lines is also not expected to restart flights to Israel before September 5.

Meanwhile, German airline Condor has officially launched a new daily route between Frankfurt and Tel Aviv, with its inaugural flight arriving at Ben Gurion Airport recently. This new connection provides passengers with direct access to Frankfurt, a major European hub, facilitating onward travel to numerous global destinations. Flights from Frankfurt depart in the afternoon, while return flights from Tel Aviv leave in the morning.
