Israeli Rescue Organization Warns of Heatwave Dangers and Child Safety in Vehicles

The Israeli emergency medical service United Hatzalah has issued a warning about the life-threatening risks posed by the current severe heatwave. They highlight an increase in cases of fainting, dehydration, and heatstroke, particularly affecting vulnerable groups such as infants, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The organization urges the public to take extra precautions to reduce harm during this period.

United Hatzalah specifically cautions against leaving children and toddlers unattended in vehicles during extreme weather conditions. They report that in recent years, dozens of children have been forgotten in cars under harsh heat, resulting in dehydration, heatstroke, and even fatalities. To mitigate these risks, the organization recommends staying in shaded or air-conditioned environments and drinking plenty of fluids.

Additionally, United Hatzalah has increased the readiness of its thousands of volunteers to provide rapid medical assistance as needed.
