One in Five Israeli Reservists Wins Discounted Apartment in Latest Lottery

The Israeli Ministry of Construction and Housing announced the results of the 11th lottery for the "Discounted Apartment" program, revealing that 7,922 households won the chance to purchase apartments at reduced prices across 19 communities nationwide. Among the 114,848 eligible households who registered, only about 6.9% secured a unit, reflecting the program's high demand and limited supply.

Reservists were prominently favored in this round, with approximately 60% of the winners being active reservists. Under the "From Reserve to Key" initiative, half of the apartments were allocated specifically to reservists, with half of those reserved for combat soldiers, following the Israel Land Authority's guidelines. Out of 25,394 reservists who registered, 4,734 won, representing an 18.6% success rate, nearly one in five.

The lottery covered projects in cities including Rishon Lezion, Ashdod, Beit Shemesh, Rehovot, Hadera, Kfar Saba, Kiryat Gat, Nahariya, Eilat, Maale Adumim, Yehud, Yokneam Illit, Kadima-Zoran, Kafr Manda, Mazkeret Batya, Rekhasim, Beit Dagan, Bnei Ayish, and Bat Hefer. The computerized lottery was conducted under the supervision of a certified accountant and the Ministry's lottery committee to ensure fairness and adherence to eligibility and priority rules.

Winners received personalized text messages starting August 2, 2026, with results also available on the registration website. Importantly, winning does not guarantee immediate possession of an apartment but grants the right to proceed with purchasing a unit based on availability and selection order. Winners must complete the process with the developer, and if any winners decline or fail to meet conditions, their spots will be offered to those on the waiting list.
