One in Five Israeli Reservists Wins Discounted Apartment in Latest Lottery

The Israeli Ministry of Construction and Housing announced the results of the 11th lottery for the "Discounted Apartment" program, revealing that 7,922 households won the chance to purchase apartments at reduced prices across 19 communities. Among the 114,848 eligible households who registered, only about 6.9% secured a unit, reflecting the program's competitive nature. Reservists were prominently favored in this round, with approximately 60% of winners being active reservists. This follows a new policy under the "From Reserve to Key" initiative, which allocated about 50% of the apartments specifically to reservists, half of which were designated for combat soldiers as per the Israel Land Authority's decision.

A total of 25,394 reservists registered, with 4,734 winning apartments, representing an 18.6% success rate, nearly one in five. This rate significantly exceeds the general winning percentage due to the dedicated allocation and the possibility for reservists to win both within their reserved quota and the general pool. The apartments are spread across cities including Rishon LeZion, Ashdod, Beit Shemesh, Rehovot, Hadera, Kfar Saba, Kiryat Gat, Nahariya, Eilat, Ma'ale Adumim, Yehud, Yokneam Illit, Kadima-Zoran, Kafr Manda, Mazkeret Batya, Rekhasim, Beit Dagan, Bnei Ayish, and Bat Hefer.

The lottery was conducted via a computerized system under the supervision of a certified accountant and the Ministry's lottery committee to ensure fairness and adherence to eligibility and priority rules. Notifications began sending on August 2, 2026, via personalized text messages, with results also available on the registration website. All participants will be informed regardless of winning status.

Winning does not guarantee immediate possession of an apartment but grants the right to proceed with purchasing within the designated projects, subject to availability and order of selection. Winners will be invited to choose apartments based on their priority, and the lists may be updated if winners decline or fail to meet program conditions, allowing waitlisted applicants to advance.
