Syria and Jordan Warn Iraq of Military Response to Attacks from Its Territory

Amid rising regional tensions, Syria has warned Iraq after detecting movements of pro-Iranian militias near their shared border. According to an Iraqi political source speaking to Al-Arabiya, Syria communicated directly with Iraqi officials, demanding measures to prevent Iraqi territory from being used for attacks against Syria. Concurrently, Jordan issued a similar warning to Baghdad, stating it would respond militarily if its territory were attacked by these militias. A Jordanian official told Al-Arabiya that Amman provided intelligence on planned attacks by pro-Iranian militias targeting Jordan and emphasized readiness to retaliate against any aggression.

These warnings come amid escalating conflicts between the United States and Iran, with Iraq caught in the middle. Last Thursday, Jordanian security forces intercepted five missiles launched from Iran, successfully preventing damage with air defense systems. In Iraq, the commander of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Ali Al-Zaidi, held an emergency meeting on Saturday to address the security developments, reaffirming Baghdad's commitment to preventing Iraqi soil from being used as a base for attacks or threats against neighboring countries.
