Rare Recording Reveals Tribute Event for Prominent Yemenite Jewish Rabbis
A rare and historic audio recording of a tribute evening honoring Rabbi Yosef Kapach, Rabbi Saadia Kobashi, and Rabbi Shimon Graidi has recently been made public. The recording captures the event's opening remarks by Rabbi Shlomo Tzadok, who praised the three distinguished figures. This unique documentation offers insight into the spiritual leadership and traditions of Yemenite Jewry, preserving moments with key personalities who have since passed away.
The event featured notable participants including the host Yigal Ben Shalom, Rabbis Yosef Kapach, Saadia Kobashi, Shimon Graidi, Yosef Tzalach, Ratzon Arousi, and others such as Israel Keisar, Pinchas Avizmar, Yehuda Levi Nahum, Ovadia Ben Shalom, Shalom Seri, Shimon Dar, Chaim Dar, Shimon Araki, Zecharia Hami, Yehuda Cohen, and Chaim Tzadok. Additional attendees included Rabbi Shlomo Tzadok, Dr. Yosef Halevi, Rabbi Yehia Kapach, Ephraim Farhi, Ezra Zuriel, Yair Oz Ari, Avigdor Kahalani, Rabbi Yosef Shevach, Rabbi Avraham Hamami, Isaiah Tzadok, Rabbi Eliyahu Aviad, Meir Korach, David Tzichi, and David Kapach.
According to Yossi Farhi, who provided the recording, the tribute evening was organized by the Society for the Promotion of Society and Culture, founded by Ovadia Ben Shalom. The recording not only honors these spiritual leaders but also serves as a valuable cultural preservation of Yemenite Jewish heritage.
