Satmar Leader Increases Matchmaker Bonuses to $7,500 to Boost Marriages Among Older Yeshiva Students

During the Siyum HaShas event held on Tu B'Av in Keresztúr, Hungary, Rabbi Dovid Teitelbaum, the Av Beit Din of Sighet in Borough Park and son of the Satmar Rebbe, announced a significant increase in the financial incentives for matchmakers arranging marriages for older yeshiva students. The bonus, originally set at $5,000 per successful match, has been raised to $7,500 for matches finalized between now and the upcoming Sukkot holiday.

This initiative, spearheaded by philanthropist Rabbi Lipa Friedman, son of the legendary Satmar mashgiach Rabbi Moshe (Gabe) Friedman, aims to encourage matchmakers to focus their efforts on facilitating marriages among the older students of the Metivta Satmar yeshiva. Since the fund's inception, there has been a noted rise in the number of matches within the yeshiva community.

The announcement was made during a gathering of Satmar matchmakers, marking a new phase in this unique program designed to strengthen marriage rates among the yeshiva's older unmarried men. The Satmar community hopes that the increased bonus will further accelerate the success of this matchmaking campaign.
