MK Shalom Danino Switches to National List in Upcoming Likud Primaries

MK Shalom Danino has decided to run on the national list in the upcoming Likud primaries, abandoning his initial plan to compete in the southern district. This decision came after extensive deliberations and consultations, despite his earlier commitment to the southern district race. The move is expected to secure the backing of Yechiel Zohar, mayor of Netivot and a prominent figure within the party.

Just a day prior, it was reported that Danino was among the first MKs to announce candidacy in the southern district primaries. Alongside him, MK Keti Shitrit is anticipated to run in the Jerusalem district, which party officials believe will be her chosen path.

The shift follows a narrowly approved proposal at this week's Likud convention, supported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister Haim Katz, who also chairs the Likud Central Committee. The change allows incumbent MKs to compete in different districts and slots during the primaries, prompting several to adjust their strategies accordingly.
