According to the British newspaper The Guardian, citing Yemeni sources, Riyadh's primary motivation is to break the Houthi-imposed blockade on shipping routes in the southern Red Sea, a vital corridor for transporting oil and goods. In recent days, Saudi forces that had previously withdrawn from eastern Yemen have been repositioned and concentrated in preparation for a potential ground incursion into Al-Bayda province, a strategic area in central-southern Yemen that fell under Houthi control between 2020 and 2021.
