Reserve Brigadier General Hazi Nechama Confirms Willingness to Join Gilad Erdan’s Potential Party

Reserve Brigadier General Hazi Nechama, former commander of the Alexandroni Brigade and Menashe region, confirmed on Thursday that he is in talks with Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan and would be happy to join Erdan’s political party if it is established. Speaking on 103fm, Nechama expressed his respect for Erdan and his readiness to contribute to efforts benefiting the State of Israel, despite potential personal and family costs. He emphasized his lifelong commitment to serving Israel and willingness to support Erdan’s initiative.

Nechama described Erdan as a principled and consistent politician with 30 years of experience, highlighting their shared vision of uniting Israeli society through broad coalitions. He noted that final decisions about alliances would be made closer to the election candidate list submissions, acknowledging his own limited political experience but willingness to learn and take initial steps.

Regarding security issues, Nechama opposed the deployment of an international force in the Gaza Strip, arguing it would send the wrong signal to Hamas and restrict the Israel Defense Forces’ operational freedom. He suggested that any pilot international presence should be on Israel’s side of the border to better control movement and prevent militants from re-entering Gaza. Nechama stressed the complexity that would arise if foreign troops were mixed within Gaza territory.
