Israeli Midfielder Ofek Biton Details Recovery From Severe Knee Injury and Future Plans

Ofek Biton, a 26-year-old Israeli football midfielder, spoke in an interview about his ongoing recovery from a serious knee injury sustained in February. Biton revealed that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and two menisci, which initially left him devastated and unable to watch football. He described the challenges of daily life during recovery, including needing his wife to help bathe him after work and relying on his father for transportation to rehabilitation sessions.

Biton expressed optimism about his progress, noting improvements since he began walking and touching the ball again. He is eager to return to training with a team but currently has no offers. He remains confident about finding a club and proving himself at his best level.

Reflecting on his recent stint in Ukraine, Biton recounted a high-level training camp where he performed well but did not receive playing time credit. After a coaching change and the outbreak of war in Israel, he was told to seek a new team and faced contractual disputes, which are now subject to legal proceedings.

Biton also praised teammate Tomer Yosefi, highlighting his potential to elevate Beitar Jerusalem. Although a lifelong Hapoel fan, Biton emphasized his professionalism and ability to separate personal loyalties from his career. He has recently resumed watching football since the World Cup and maintains a good relationship with coach Ziv Arie, who has been a mentor to him.
