IDF Chief Urges Expansion of Haredi Combat Units After October 7 Attacks

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir met with fighters from the Haredi "Yonatan" Battalion of the Netzah Yehuda Brigade on the northern border. He emphasized that one of the key lessons from the October 7 attacks is the need for the IDF to grow stronger and expand its ground combat forces. Zamir called for increasing the number of battalions and brigades capable of fighting, defeating the enemy, and defending Israel. He noted a rise in Haredi enlistment in both combat and combat support roles and stressed the importance of continuing this trend to replicate the Yonatan Battalion and transform the Netzah Yehuda Brigade into a fully combat-ready unit.
