Israel's U18 Basketball Team Beats Denmark to Reach European Championship Quarterfinals

Israel's under-18 national basketball team secured a commanding 100-86 victory over Denmark in the round of 16 at the European Championship, advancing to the quarterfinals. Coached by Nadav Zilberstein, the Israeli squad guaranteed its place among the tournament's top eight and maintained its status in Division A. This win brings the team just one victory away from qualifying for the U19 World Championship and two wins from clinching a historic medal.

Israel entered the match as clear favorites after an undefeated 3-0 group stage, including notable wins against basketball powerhouses Greece and France. Denmark, despite finishing last in their group without a win, had previously challenged strong teams like Serbia. The game started strongly for Israel with David Moses dominating early, helping build a double-digit lead. However, Denmark briefly took the lead in the first half as Aviv Aronov struggled to find rhythm. Omri Orland then sparked a crucial 11-point run off the bench, restoring Israel's double-digit advantage by halftime (50-40).

The third quarter saw Israel extend their lead to 78-56, with Moses continuing to excel under the basket and Rom Stoller contributing valuable minutes. Although Denmark attempted a comeback in the final quarter, Aronov's key plays halted their momentum, securing a decisive Israeli win. Moses finished with an impressive 23 points and 17 rebounds, Aronov added 22 points and 8 rebounds, Orland scored 21 points, and Stoller contributed 17 points.

The Israeli youth team now aims to win their next game to secure a spot in the U19 World Championship and continue their pursuit of a historic medal at the European Championship.
