Israeli Bank ONE ZERO Integrates ChatGPT and Claude as Financial Advisors for Clients
Israeli digital bank ONE ZERO announced on Wednesday that it is integrating AI assistants ChatGPT and Claude to serve as financial advisors for its customers. The bank’s digital assistant, ELLA, will connect with these generic AI agents, sharing personal financial data through a secure infrastructure developed by the bank. This system allows AI to access comprehensive financial information with customer consent, enabling insights such as credit card expense categorization, subscription identification, and detailed investment portfolio analysis.
In demonstrations, the AI identified duplicate transactions, unnecessary foreign currency charges, and suggested gradual savings opportunities, all presented with user-friendly graphics. While the AI can recommend investments, it cannot yet execute transactions autonomously, redirecting clients to the bank’s app or human advisors for actual trading. ONE ZERO positions the AI as an advanced search and classification tool rather than a fully autonomous banking agent.
The bank explicitly disclaims responsibility for the AI’s advice, emphasizing that customers bear the risk of relying on AI recommendations. This approach allows ONE ZERO to brand itself as innovative while limiting liability. The bank justifies the service by noting that many customers already consult AI tools independently, so providing direct, reliable data access improves advisory quality and reduces costs, especially for those with limited access to financial advice.
Initially, customers can connect their financial data to ChatGPT, with Claude integration planned later, available in both free and paid AI versions. Users are advised to disable AI training on their data to protect privacy. Security measures include identity verification and controlled data sharing, with customers deciding what information to share and for what purpose. The bank processes and classifies data to minimize errors and does not transfer raw data to AI providers.
ONE ZERO envisions evolving the service from data viewing and analysis to AI-assisted decision-making and eventually to AI-executed transactions under strict authorization. The bank aims to become a secure financial data layer beneath various AI interfaces, enabling personalized financial management tools. CEO Eyal Gafni described the shift from a bank built for customers to a bank built with customers, supporting AI agents chosen by clients with accurate data and execution capabilities. CTO Yuval Birnbaum highlighted the bank’s modular, API-based architecture that enriches client data with anonymized benchmarks to enhance AI understanding and value.
The initial rollout is limited to data viewing and analysis, with full AI-driven financial management and execution planned for the future, contingent on technological advances and regulatory approvals.
