One Zero Bank Enables Direct Connection of Financial Data to ChatGPT for Personalized Insights
Israeli digital bank One Zero is launching a new service allowing customers to connect their financial data directly to AI agents like ChatGPT. This integration aims to provide users with real-time financial analysis and insights within AI platforms they already use, moving beyond the traditional closed banking app model toward a personalized embedded finance infrastructure. Currently, the feature is available only through ChatGPT and requires customers to request access from the bank. Future plans include expanding to Google Cloud and other AI tools such as Gemini.
Technologically, the connection is established via a dedicated connector developed by One Zero. After secure authentication through OAuth, a direct communication channel is created between the AI agent and "Ella," the bank’s digital financial assistant. This connector enables real-time retrieval of processed and categorized financial data without sharing passwords or relying on manual uploads like Excel files or screenshots. The bank highlights that many retail investors in Israel (62%) do not consult professional advisors, and 85% are unwilling to pay for human advice, while a majority of independent investors already use AI tools, especially younger users under 35.
The bank processes and cleans the data before sharing it with the AI to reduce errors and misinformation. For example, in a demonstration, the AI was able to analyze a customer’s finances and advise on whether a family vacation could be funded from short-term liquid assets, offering alternative suggestions when funds were insufficient. However, the quality of insights depends on the completeness of the data shared, and current limitations in Israel’s open banking system restrict continuous sharing of complex data like investment portfolios.
Regarding privacy and security, One Zero is responsible for securely transmitting data within its systems, while data handling on external AI platforms is the customer’s responsibility with explicit consent. Users are advised to prevent their personal data from being used to train AI models. Initially, the integration supports viewing and analysis only, with plans to add supervised transaction execution in the coming months, requiring active customer approval for any financial operations.
Summary: Israeli digital bank One Zero is enabling customers to securely link their financial data to ChatGPT, providing personalized financial insights and analysis within AI platforms, with future plans for transaction capabilities and broader AI integration.
